As I reflect on the past 75 days of my life, I stand in awe of the transformation I've undergone. The 75 Hard challenge, a mental and physical crucible, has left an indelible mark on my life. While the quantifiable changes are evident—shedding 10 pounds, reading 8 books, and guzzling 75 gallons of water—there's a wealth of growth and lessons I've gleaned from this journey.
Quantifiable Achievements

The numbers tell a story of dedication and hard work. My physical progress is evident, with a 10-pound weight loss and the ability to lift heavier weights than before. This is a reminder that the scale doesn't always reflect the true progress; it's about feeling better in your own skin and the fit of your clothes.
But beyond the statistics, there's a world of change that has occurred during this transformative period.
Reinventing Daily Routine
One of the most significant shifts has been in how I approach my daily life. I've embraced the practice of crafting weekly schedules, offering a structured framework that has elevated my personal and professional productivity. Moreover, my monthly goal-setting routine ensures I remain focused and motivated. Through this process, I've discovered that I thrive with a well-organized schedule. It's become a source of discipline that compels me to tackle tasks promptly rather than procrastinate.
Sharper Decision-Making
This journey has honed my ability to make decisions. I've noticed that I'm now more decisive, capable of focusing on challenging choices without the cloud of self-doubt. The clarity I've gained helps me make informed decisions, rather than being overwhelmed by a barrage of negative thoughts.
Realistic Goal Setting
With improved decision-making comes the power to set achievable goals. I've transitioned from daydreaming about a bright future to setting realistic goals that propel me toward my aspirations. This shift in mindset is invaluable, offering a path to transform dreams into tangible achievements.
Patience and Persistence
The concept of instant gratification has lost its appeal. I've learned the value of patience and persistence. Success doesn't occur overnight, and I'm now comfortable with the idea that the journey is just as important as the destination. This newfound perspective guides my actions, ensuring I see things through to completion rather than quitting when success doesn't arrive immediately.
Equipped with Tools for Self-Care
75 Hard has taught me the significance of self-care for both mental and physical well-being. I now recognize the importance of preserving my health, ensuring that I'm in a position to care for others effectively.
Identifying Unproductive Habits
During this challenge, I've gained clarity on elements in my life that brought no value. For example, I identified that excessive time spent streaming video games didn't align with my goals. While it was entertaining, it consumed hours that could have been used more productively. This realization has prompted me to evaluate the activities I engage in and ensure they contribute positively to my life.
New Habits Worth Keeping
75 Hard has left me with several invaluable habits that I intend to continue beyond the challenge:
Walking with My Husband: Our daily walks have deepened our connection, offering a dedicated time for meaningful conversations, mutual support, and the opportunity to meet new neighbors.
Hydration: Drinking a gallon of water daily has become a craving rather than a chore, benefiting my sleep, skin, and overall vitality.
Maintaining a Workout Routine: My relationship with the gym has grown healthier. Weightlifting not only releases stress but also clears my mind, providing a refreshing reset during challenging days.
Reading: Rediscovering my love for reading has kindled a passion that I intend to sustain. Books have become a valuable source of knowledge and entertainment, transforming me into a lifelong reader.
Cautionary Notes for Aspiring Challengers
While the benefits of 75 Hard are profound, it's crucial to approach the challenge with an understanding of the potential pitfalls:
Burnout: Be cautious of pushing yourself to the brink of burnout, especially with workouts. Listen to your body and modify routines to match your physical condition.
Mental Challenge: Recognize that 75 Hard is primarily a mental challenge with physical benefits. Approaching it as solely a fitness challenge can lead to dissatisfaction and misunderstanding.
Outdoor Workouts: While you must work out in outdoor conditions, prioritize safety. Avoid exercising in severe weather like hurricanes, lightning storms, and dangerous temperatures. It's essential to push yourself, but without putting yourself in harm's way.
Maintainability: Choose a diet and workout routine that you can sustain beyond 75 Hard. The challenge is the most rigorous phase, but it should lead to a long-term system you can maintain.
Continuing the Journey
Having experienced these profound changes, I'm now contemplating embarking on the full Live Hard program. There's no reason to stop this transformative journey. The progress I've made and the maturity I've gained have instilled a desire to keep pushing the boundaries, to see how far I can evolve over the next year.
The reduction in anxiety, coupled with newfound confidence and skills for lifelong learning, solidify my commitment to continuing this path of growth. For those who may be feeling stuck or uncertain about their next steps in life, I encourage you to give 75 Hard a try. It might just be the catalyst you need to unlock your full potential.
